2008 Bastiat Prize Dinner
Princeton Club, New York City
IPN's Seventh Annual Bastiat Prize Dinner will be held in New York City on October 22, 2008. IPN established the Bastiat Prize in 2002 to recognise and reward those journalists who provide insight into the role of free enterprise and the institutions of the free society. Our keynote speaker at this year's dinner will be Andrew Mwenda, a Ugandan journalist and founder of the newspaper "The Independent". Mwenda has been jailed and his paper has been shut down for his criticisms of the policies and practices of the Ugandan government. The winner of the 2008 Bastiat Prize for Journalism, one of six finalists for this year's Prize, will be announced during the dinner.
