After Paarlberg’s wake-up call to eco-foodies, economist Paul Collier takes “romantic environmentalists” to task. Balancing poverty alleviation with environmental concerns means that we should support large-scale commercial farming, GMOs and nuclear energy – not uphold foolish and dangerous policies backed by an unholy alliance of Luddite and protectionist interests.
