Africa and the U.S. cotton subsidies

African cotton farmers can be big winners if Brazil’s threats against the despicable U.S. cotton subsidies get Washington to remove the subsidies.  But everyone is worse off if Brazil’s gamble backfires.  Higher prices for consumers and producers and no improvement in the limited access producers from poor countries are allowed to markets in rich countries.
