Barbados

Barbados was ranked 31 of 159 countries on the UN's Human Development Index, with life expectancy comparable to that of the US. High levels of tourism have meant the government has been able to invest in universal healthcare. Specialist treatment is difficult to find however: most insurance policies include emergency evacuation cover.

Tariffs have been reduced in the past few years but are still considerably higher than most Caribbean countries, at approximately 12%.
