Botswana

Botswana has enjoyed amongst the world's highest rates of economic growth in recent years, and this comparative wealth has allowed the country to invest heavily in primary care, at which all Botswanans are entitled to free care. Facilities are limited outside urban areas. There is also a thriving private sector, as well as a large number of traditional healers. Due to the recent establishment of formalized medical education within the country, around 90% of the physicians in the public hospitals are from outside Botswana.

Botswana's wealth means that most piped drinking water is safe, resulting in a lower burden of communicable disease than neighbouring countries.

There are no import tariffs on medicines in Botswana.
