Comoros

The Comoros Islands lacks a formalized system of health care. Although there are hospitals on each of the three islands, the country suffers from a lack of trained medical personnel (there is 1 doctor for every 6650 people) and access to medicine and equipment. Those who can afford it fly to Madagascar for treatment for more serious illnesses. Those who can't rely on traditional healers. Less than half of the population has access to safe drinking water and malaria is common.

All medicines have to be imported: currently no tariffs are levied.
