Georgia

Since independence in 1991, Georgia has sought, like much of the former Soviet bloc, to radically restructure it health system. However, while the reforms have been bold, they have not yet succeeded in meeting their goals of providing a lower cost and basic health service to all who need it. This is partly because of a lack of investment and an overly bureaucratic infrastructure.

Encouragingly however, Georgia has reduced its tariffs on pharmaceuticals to zero in the past 5 years, due to a desire to create an open investment environment for foreign direct investment.
