Jordan

The World Bank ranked Jordan as the top medical tourism destination in the Middle East and North Africa, ahead of Israel and the UAE. More generally, healthcare is provided through a combination of the public and private sectors, with the latter providing 36% of hospital beds. However there are still barriers to a high quality service for all: medical services are concentrated around the capital Amman which leaves up to 60% of Jordanians who live elsewhere with only sparsely distributed medical resources. 30% of the population is not insured and has no access to even the most basic health care. Access to medicine in Jordan is hampered by a 4% tariff.
