Malawi

Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world and suffers from an array of preventable communicable diseases, including HIV / AIDS. Malawi has the lowest amount of doctors per capita in the world, with only 2 for every 100,000 people. Impassable roads and weak transportation systems block patients, providers and medicines from reaching health facilities. Although there are no tariffs charged on pharmaceutical imports, customs bureaucracy is slow and supply chains are under-developed.
